Nomination of Hi-Con projects in the Netherlands

DOUBLE THE GOOD NEWS FROM HI-CON HOLLAND

The apartment complex The Line in Amsterdam and the Amare Concert Hall have both been nominated for the Dutch Concrete Awards 2021. The jury has nominated fifteen projects in six categories.

The apartment complex "The Line" is nominated in the categories "Housing" and "Groundbreaking Construction."

The Amare Concert Hall is nominated in the categories "Utility" and "Groundbreaking Construction."

Hi-Con submitted the Concert Hall Amare together with JCAU Architects & Urbanists and The Line together with Orange Architects.

THE LINE

The Line is an elegant apartment complex with a facade net design. The extremely slender balconies and columns are made of Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC).

Jury's motivation:

"This apartment building has many special features, of which the architectural application of the ultra high performance concrete in the ultra-thin balconies and columns is the most striking. This concrete application also saves CO2."

AMARE CONCERT HALL

For the Amare Concert Hall, GRC (glass fiber reinforced concrete) was used, supplied by Hi-Con Holland in collaboration with several partners. GRC has primarily been used in the beautiful acoustic panels and the indoor balconies.

Jury's motivation:

"The jury appreciates this application of [glass fiber reinforced] concrete, which makes optimal use of the freedom of shape in concrete, the high aesthetic quality, the low mass and the long lifespan. All this to achieve the most important in the design of a concert hall: good acoustics."
