Campus BØGEHØJ selects balcony slabs in Ultra High Performance Concrete

NEW CHAPTER FOR CAMPUS BØGEHØJ

Campus BØGEHØJ, situated in the idyllic town of Ebeltoft in Denmark, is undergoing an exciting transformation. Nestled within a stunning national park, Campus BØGEHØJ is renowned for its exceptional location and is now set to be enhanced with larger and more modern facilities.

As part of this development, a new accommodation wing named "BØGELUNDEN" is being constructed. The wing will feature 80 rooms, conference facilities, a bistro, and other amenities designed to seamlessly integrate with the surrounding landscape while providing state-of-the-art facilities for both students and staff.

The new accommodation wing, designed by C.F. Møller Architects, is based on principles of reuse and reduced environmental impact. The construction will incorporate recycled materials from the former accommodation wing and utilize over 850 CLT (cross-laminated timber) elements for floor decks and walls.

Hi-Con is proud to contribute to this project by delivering slim balcony slabs/window sills made from Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC), adding an elegant and modern touch to the building’s facade.

With CLT being a lightweight material, it was essential to consider its weight limitations when selecting facade and balcony solutions.

The structural and design ambitions of Campus BØGEHØJ led to the choice of UHPC elements from Hi-Con – an innovative material offering a slim, strong, and durable alternative to traditional concrete.

Hi-Con will produce 122 UHPC balcony slabs/window sills, each with a thickness of just 50 mm, for the new accommodation wing. Despite the use of concrete, the slenderness and strength of the elements ensure that the application of concrete aligns with the project’s sustainability goals.

The project is expected to be completed in September 2025.
