WE HAVE STARTED THE ENGINEERING WORK!
The renovation of Duinroosstraat in Den Helder involves a beautiful upgrade of 90 apartments spread across 5 residential blocks. Kokon Architecture & Urban Planning is responsible for the design of the new project, where 5 nearly identical apartment buildings are now undergoing renovation.
The facades will be renewed, and the existing balconies on one side of each building will be removed and replaced with 90 brand new, large balconies in Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) of 8.5 m² from Hi-Con Netherlands.
The UHPC balcony slabs are supported by two prefabricated concrete columns balanced on a steel column at the corner. The new balconies will also be attached to the existing structure.
The design of the balconies is characterized by their very slender form, with a thickness of only 70 mm.
