ATTRACTIVE SURROUNDINGS

Lønneparken in Aalborg, Denmark, has now been completed, and the rental of these modern homes is already well underway. This project represents the second phase of Parkbyen and consists of three towers offering apartments in various sizes, designed to meet diverse needs.

A distinctive feature of the apartments in Parkbyen is the spacious balconies, which provide exceptional comfort and stunning views and bring nature inside. Each apartment has its own balcony, reaching up to 21 sqm, including several impressively large corner balconies.

These balconies for Lønneparken were produced by Hi-Con.

ALTANLØSNING I ULTRA HØJSTYRKEBETON

As the balconies in Lønneparken needed to wrap around the building’s corners, special requirements were imposed on the strength of the balcony slabs. In this context, Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) proved crucial in meeting the project's structural and aesthetic demands.

UHPC is known for its exceptional strength, achieved by incorporating up to 19 million steel fibers per cubic meter. This impressive strength allows Hi-Con to produce extremely slim elements in large formats.

Lønneparken has a total of 170 balconies made from UHPC, divided into five different variants, 74 of which are large corner balconies. The balcony slabs feature integrated load-bearing beams and thicknesses as low as 50 mm, varying in width from 1.5 to 4.4 meters and in length from 3.0 to 9.5 meters. The slabs also have a cover layer of just 10-15 mm.

What is UHPC?

"Parkbyen’s balconies are generally large compared to similar buildings. The balconies wrap around the building’s corners, which required strength in the balcony slab – without resulting in an overly bulky structure. Hi-Con has succeeded in this."
