First standard bridge in UHPC in The Netherlands
The very first standard bridge of ultra high performance concrete in the Netherlands is located at Hoflandstraat in Pijnacker. This super slender bridge is realized according to the Delft UHPC Bridge System: A modular and demountable bridge concept for low-material, maintenance-free, bicycle and pedestrian bridges with a lifespan of more than 100 years. The bridge concept is fully in line with the sustainable ambitions of the municipality of Pijnacker.
The bicycle and pedestrian bridge with contemporary steel fencing design is created in such a way that no visible cross beams under the bridge deck are required. The bridge, which is five meters wide and only 85 mm thick, consists of three prefab TT plates made of CRC i3®. The deck is cast in two colors and has a relief. This relief in acts as an anti-skid layer. A maintenance-sensitive wear layer was therefore unnecessary.
