FIRST STANDARD BRIDGE IN UHPC IN THE NETHERLANDS
The very first standard bridge in Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) in the Netherlands is located on Hoflandstraat in the city of Pijnacker. This ultra-slim bridge was constructed according to the Delft UHPC Bridge System: a modular and detachable bridge concept for maintenance-free bicycle and pedestrian bridges, with a lifespan of more than 100 years, using minimal material. The bridge concept aligns with the sustainable ambitions of the Pijnacker municipality.
The bicycle and pedestrian bridge, featuring modern steel railings, was designed without the need for visible cross beams under the bridge deck. The bridge, which is five meters wide and only 85 mm thick, consists of three prefabricated TT slabs made of ultra high performance concrete CRC i3®. The bridge deck is cast in two colors with a relief pattern. The relief serves as an anti-slip surface, eliminating the need for a high-maintenance wear layer.
