UNCONVENTIONAL ARCHITECTURE

The housing association KBA has built 114 senior residences in Ørestad Syd in Copenhagen, Denmark. Inspired by the traditional village, the 10,000 m² area also includes 2,100 m² of communal space for residents, featuring shared terraces and a communal courtyard.

The nursing home is described as an unconventionally designed building with skewed balconies that appear as if they have been thrown onto the facade. With its distinctive color combination, the nursing home in Ørestad certainly attracts attention among the surrounding buildings.

BOX BALCONIES IN ULTRA HIGH PERFORMANCE CONCRETE

Hi-Con has delivered 118 box balconies in Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) for the colorful building. The balconies are cast as whole elements in a steel mold, ensuring uniformity in the surface. The balconies are mounted on the facade with brackets, and their asymmetrical design adds an eye-catching facade to the building.
