Sustainable facade renovation for social housing
Sorgenfrivang II is the first DGNB-certified and with a gold medal rewarded renovation project in Denmark. DGNB (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen / German Sustainable Building Council) is an internationally applicable certification system for sustainable building.
The project comprises the large-scale facade renovation of three residential blocks that together offer space for 428 social housing apartments. The blocks date from the late 50s and have a characteristic concrete column and beam structure.
Slender balconies in CRC and lightweight cladding in GRC
Hi-Con supplied the plastic-coated and thermal bridge-free balconies in CRC i2® ultra high performance concrete and the facade cladding made of GRC by BB fiber concrete.
The GRC elements have hidden anchoring solutions in a combination of stud frames, brackets and the standardized FA1000® system (for the end walls).
Sorgenfrivang II shows that slender and lightweight concrete can make an important contribution to the sustainability task of this time. Also for social housing.
