BEAUTIFUL SUSPENDED STAIRCASE IN ULTRA HIGH PERFORMANCE CONCRETE
Sydhavn School enjoys a unique location along the canal at Teglholmen in Copenhagen, Denmark, presenting a breathtaking sight for those passing by. The school was inaugurated for students in 2015 and has since been an iconic landmark in the area.
The spectacular architecture includes an impressive staircase, which is a central part of the school's architectural expression. Hi-Con has delivered this impressive structure, consisting of four slender stair flights elegantly suspended with tie rods. The steps, measuring 1.6 meters in width and with a thickness of 13 cm, are cast in light Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) CRC i2®, ensuring both aesthetics and durability.
Sydhavn School was honored in 2016 with the title "Best New School in the World" by World Architecture News, highlighting the building's remarkable design and innovative approach to school architecture.
