PRESERVED EXPRESSION WITH MODERN REQUIREMENTS

"Ved Volden" is a building located in Christianshavn, Copenhagen, which had its original balconies replaced with new balconies from Hi-Con in 2015.

Since the architecture from the 1930s is protected, there were strict requirements for the design of the new balconies. The goal was to recreate the architectural expression of the existing balconies while minimizing their weight and complying with modern building standards. This means that "Ved Volden" has received new balconies with an old look that meet modern requirements.

Hi-Con delivered approximately 250 balconies in Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) in seven different variants, as well as 120 balcony boxes in UHPC. The balconies and balcony boxes are cast in light CRC i2® with thicknesses ranging from 60-95 mm.
