DYK NED I VORES VIDEN OM UHPC

The price of your balcony project depends on several factors, including the number of units, variants, size, and complexity.
We offer both customized balconies and our new standard solution, concept balconies.
For each balcony variant, there will be new calculations, new drawings, and new castings. All these factors will influence the total cost.
Since casting molds are costly, it is crucial for the price of the balcony that the mold is used multiple – and preferably many – times.
Some of these costs can be avoided by choosing, for example, our concept solution.
We recommend that you contact us if you have a specific project or a question related to pricing – we will be happy to calculate a price for your project.

Yes, we produce most of our elements in North Jutland where our production facility is located. Additionally, we also have production in Holland, primarily serving our Dutch customers.

Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) uses more cement per cubic meter than regular concrete, but when compared per functional unit, such as per m² of balcony, we use less material compared to equivalent elements in regular concrete. A study also shows that the production of Hi-Con concept balconies emits 22.8% less CO2 than a steel balcony. Read more about the study here. Additionally, UHPC has a durability of 100+ years.

We are aware that we operate in an industry that accounts for a significant percentage of total CO2 emissions, and we strive to optimize all processes that can be optimized. For example, we are working on optimizing our concrete to reduce the paste content, and we have just started a project with several partners to explore the possibilities of design-for-disassembly, so the elements can be reused with as little modification as possible.

We offer a wide range of installation principles, including the use of brackets, rods, and tabs in our concrete. We have solutions for every building and design solutions tailored precisely to the specific needs required.
You can see the different solutions by downloading our brochures right here.

Our products are made of concrete, so the base color is gray. However, we can vary from a very dark gray to a light cream color. If you have a specific project that requires a different color, we also have the capability to mix in pigments.
You can see an example from Holland here: Woontoren de Verkenner.
In this project, the light CRC i2® was mixed with yellow pigment to match the facade's appearance. The project was also nominated for a concrete award in Holland in 2017.

Special transport is not required for our elements, and since they are lighter and slimmer than traditional concrete, we can often, when combined with production and installation schedules, load more elements onto a single shipment compared to elements of the same type.
-
We have a CE marking for our balconies, equivalent to what can be achieved for elements made of regular concrete. However, in our case, the CE marking is issued by Dancert based on our ETA. Our ETA is a special "standard" that we have developed specifically for balconies in Ultra High Performance Concrete.
You can read much more about our certifications and the process of developing them right here.
-
Ultra High Performance Concrete weighs around 2,700 kg/m³, which is slightly more than regular concrete. Due to their slenderness, the self-weight per m² of UHPC balconies is typically less than half the self-weight of balconies cast with regular concrete.
-
Our balconies have an extremely long lifespan of over 100 years, meaning that our Ultra High Performance Concrete requires no maintenance. However, they should be cleaned of ordinary dirt, just like any other elements of the same type.
-
Yes, actually, traditional fiber concrete is only reinforced with fibers, whereas we use fibers as "secondary" reinforcement. The fibers ensure crack control and are important for managing deflections, while we use traditional reinforcement to ensure the load-bearing capacity of the structures.
-
Yes, our elements are typically produced to BS60 standards, but we can also design to BS120 if necessary. We have conducted several full-scale fire tests in both Finland and Denmark.
-
Yes, our UHPC is completely waterproof and is even highly resistant to gases due to its fine pore structure. UHPC constructions do not require coatings or membranes to keep water out.
-
Yes, we have conducted a series of tests at temperatures down to -50 degrees without damaging our concrete.
For example, we have several projects in Finland, where there are large temperature fluctuations. You can see an example here: Postipuisto.
-
No, as a rule, we do not.
-
Using UHPC elements for your project is advantageous if you desire a slim design, long lifespan, and reduced load on the building.
However, it would be advantageous to use regular concrete if you are looking for a more cost-effective alternative, can accommodate thicker elements, and the building can withstand a larger load.
-
Yes, we do. Our core competence lies in concrete, and we have subcontractors that enable us to offer installation and delivery.
If you prefer to handle the installation yourself, that is also an option.
-
We lift our elements using lifting inserts. Typically, there are 4 lifting inserts in each element. The placement and dimensions of these inserts will be detailed in our production drawings.
-
Our balconies are typically drained using built-in slopes that direct water away from the building. The precise drainage design depends on the specific project requirements and will be detailed in our production drawings.
-
-
The minimum dimension of an element depends on the load it will be subjected to and how the element is supported. Typically, we do not make elements thinner than 30 mm.
-
There are endless possibilities for concrete surfaces. Besides a standard smooth concrete surface, we offer 8 standard profiles that are slip-resistant. Check them out here.
These slip-resistant surfaces meet the slip resistance requirements of R12 or R13.
