With the concept staircase, we present an entirely new and truly slim staircase design that is far more standardized than the typical custom-made staircases provided by Hi-Con. The concept staircase is also produced in our third generation of Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC), CRC i3b.

With a strength range that surpasses traditional concrete types, our UHPC material enables both impressive strength and reduced CO₂ emissions, compared to stairs made from our CRC i2. The clean lines and slim profile of the design reduce the building's weight by approximately 5 tons per floor, which can help reduce the overall load.

Our dedication to innovation is reflected in every curve and step of our stairs. We have developed this staircase solution to be free of complex joints, maintenance-free, and fire-resistant. It is a staircase solution that not only connects floors but also enhances and complements the building’s architecture and structure, creating a sense of openness and space.

BENEFITS OF THE CONCEPT STAIRCASE

Effective and fast delivery is crucial to keeping any construction project on schedule. Therefore, we strive to offer quick delivery times.

To give you an idea of what to expect, the design process usually takes around 10-12 weeks. This is followed by a preparation phase for production, including mold creation, which typically takes 4-6 weeks before manufacturing begins. Our production capacity allows us to manufacture from 1 to several elements per day, depending on the size of the project, the dimensions of the individual elements, and the number of available molds. Typically, we produce one element per day, four days a week.

We place great emphasis on delivering our UHPC elements on time, ensuring an efficient construction process that stays within the planned deadlines. Our goal is to give you the assurance that we are mindful of the importance of precise delivery times.

It’s important to note that delivery times can vary depending on the size of the project and the complexity of the design and elements. Faster timelines may be possible for less complex projects.

With an impressive thickness of only 6 cm and step edges of 3 cm, the concept staircases manage to combine minimalist design with maximum strength and durability.

LESS CEMENT AND MATERIAL CONSUMPTION

The concept staircase is made of Hi-Con’s third generation of Ultra High Performance Concrete, CRC i3b. What characterizes CRC i3b is the use of larger aggregate sizes and a reduced amount of mortar compared to our CRC i2 – and thus less cement. By producing the concept staircases in CRC i3b, we can therefore achieve a lower CO₂ impact compared to our CRC i2 material.


The staircase design is developed with a focus on minimizing material consumption, meaning that the total material usage is significantly reduced compared to traditional concrete stairs. This is made possible by the material’s extraordinary strength, which allows for the production of particularly slim elements. In addition, UHPC has a lifespan of over 100 years and requires no maintenance, resulting in lower lifecycle costs. This long-lasting durability ensures comfort and reduces future maintenance expenses.
