STAIRCASE SOLUTIONS IN UHPC

A staircase is not just a staircase. A staircase transforms spaces; it connects floors, adds character, and contributes to creating identity. At Hi-Con, we help you create a concrete staircase with a unique expression that makes an impression. Whether it's a piece of art in an office building, an elegant and functional solution for an educational institution, or a cozy and homely staircase in an apartment building.

Hi-Con's concrete staircases are made of Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC). The use of UHPC enables us to strive to create value for architects, engineers, contractors, builders, and end-users. Our customized concrete staircase solutions are tailored to each project, ensuring that the staircase is not only functional but also matches the building's architectural expression.

We always utilize the material's unique properties in our staircase solutions, offering design freedom to shape the staircase and create the desired expression.

We deliver all types of concrete staircases. Whether you dream of a spiral staircase that winds several meters high and connects floors, a straight staircase with extra-long spans, or a staircase consisting of loose steps with a floating, simple, and elegant expression, we help you bring your dreams and visions of a unique staircase to life. We also deliver special staircases where, for example, there is a need to combine different types of staircases, use new shapes and colors, or even develop a new installation principle. For us, no challenges are too big – quite the contrary.

The immense strength of Ultra High Performance Concrete makes it possible to produce slim and lightweight concrete staircase solutions that cannot be created with traditional concrete. This ensures significantly greater flexibility in our concrete staircase solutions, making a difference for the project's architect, engineer, contractor, builder, and especially the end-user.

SPIRAL STAIRCASES

  • An accordion staircase is a self-supporting stair solution. If a solution with extra long spans is needed, sometimes a stringer is necessary to support the staircase in an integrated and elegant manner.

The steps can be as thin as 50 mm, have a long lifespan, and, like all our staircases, are customized for each project, making YOUR staircase completely unique. A straight staircase in CRC i2® is a simple staircase with an elegant expression that is easy to install.

See an example of a straight staircase from Hi-Con here.

  • The spiral staircase is characterized by its elegant, slim, and twisting design. You can recognize a spiral staircase by its winding around a centrally placed column. When the individual steps are stacked, they form a spindle, which is then reinforced and cast. The spindle thus becomes the supporting element and functions as the column around which the steps wind.

A spiral staircase in CRC i2® can be cast with a step thickness of down to 50mm.

  • Similar to the spiral staircase, the winding staircase is characterized by its elegant, twisting, and slim design. However, the winding staircase differs by its see-through center. It is not supported by a centrally placed column but instead by an inner stringer. A winding staircase often requires more space and is delivered in multiple elements, assembled on-site with CRC i2® Jointcast.

The steps can be cast down to a thickness of 50 mm.

You can find an example of a winding staircase from Hi-Con right here.

  • A custom staircase is a solution that falls outside the previously mentioned stair types, requiring an extraordinary approach. This might be needed when developing a new installation method, combining multiple stair types, using new shapes or colors, or something entirely different. No challenge is too big - at Hi-Con, we thrive on complexity and are eager to help you turn your dream into reality.

SURFACES - TEXTURE AND COLORS

Ultra High Performance Concrete can, like regular concrete, be tailored to the aesthetic expression you desire. The standard colors are gray and light, but it is also possible to dye and texture the concrete. Additionally, the aggregate can be varied so that the surface appears rougher than the standard concrete.
